Stephen read Law at Newcastle University and went on to complete his LPC at the College of Law, London. He undertook his training contract with a Durham-based law firm and initially qualified into Family Law in 2009. He made the transition to Private Client Law and rose to the position of Salaried Partner after being headhunted by a Newcastle-based law firm.
Stephen’s expertise covers all aspects of Private Client Law and lifetime planning including Wills, Inheritance Tax planning, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Attorney, General Powers of Attorney and the administration of trusts. He has detailed knowledge of Estate administration for both low and high value Estates (probate) including intestate Estates as well as expertise in preparing post-death variations.
Stephen is an Associate Member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners.
In his spare time, Stephen sits as a member of the Board of Trustees at a well-known regional children’s charity, having held the position for several years. He is the former chair of his local residents’ association and is a former vice-chair of a local young women’s charity. His passions include a number of sports and long dog walks. Stephen is bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish and is competent in both Italian and French.
