Les gained a first class honours degree in Law and qualified as a Solicitor in 1991. He is an experienced adviser to businesses, eager to find pragmatic solutions and alert to commercial needs. His priority is to work with clients to achieve outcomes that match their aims and targets.
Bringing knowledge on contractual and trading terms, financing and how companies, LLPs and partnerships function, Les is able to draw on his broad skills as part of Jacksons’ Commercial Litigation team.
Les advises landlords and tenants of commercial property and he has built up relationships with providers of residential property. He is regularly invited to make presentations to private landlord associations and works with a number of social landlords on the tricky aspects of their housing management operations.
He has particular proficiency in advising social clubs, community interest companies and the operators of pubs and those in the hospitality industry.
Those engaged in farming have found this solicitor to be sympathetic to the changing demands of their businesses, diligent in advising on leasing matters and aware of developing laws on environmental issues.
In recent years Les’ interest in education-related matters has developed further, particularly in providing advice to parents.
Les is a part-time Judge and an Associate Lecturer in Law.
Out of hours he enjoys being with his family and live theatre, being an enthusiastic talent-spotter each year at the Edinburgh Fringe.
