Through the course of the last few months I have recorded the story of Jacksons move into new offices in Preston Farm. On Thursday night, last week, that story had its happy ending when the official opening of the building took place. We were delighted to welcome guests to our office and to enjoy showing off our new home and celebrating with them.
We were particularly delighted that Ben Houchen, our Tees Valley Mayor agreed to open the building for us. It was exciting to hear how hard Ben is fighting to get funding for this region and we will all have our fingers crossed when the budget is announced this week that his efforts have been rewarded with cash from the Chancellor.
Ben spoke also about other hopes he has for a free port at Teesport after Brexit when customs rules could change. Ben is planning to ask businesses who want to show their support for this proposal to sign a letter that could be presented to government. Geoff Skeoch, senior partner of Jacksons told the assembled gathering that last year we celebrated the history of this firm and its 140th year of providing legal services to the people of Teesside, but that this party was all about the future and looking forward to exciting times in our new home.

After the formalities we enjoyed some celebratory drinks and some excellent canapés from our new neighbours Incredible Edibles, here in Preston Farm as well as some very clever magic from Andy Larmouth. Many of us tried but no-one succeeded in working out how any of his tricks were done.
