Jacksons ShieldEmployment Law does not stay still for long and employers are regularly required to adapt to changes arising from legislation or judicial decisions and adopt new attitudes as to how, when and where we work.

This may never have been so apparent as in the current coronavirus pandemic, however, recent court and tribunal judgments on employment status and discrimination have also had significant consequences for the modern workplace.

Then there is Brexit which could be the catalyst for a period of significant UK employment law evolution if not revolution.
In light of these developments, and their potentially serious consequences, it is increasingly important to have access to advice you can trust as soon as you need it.

 

Jacksons Shield is our flagship service which provides comprehensive Employment Law support and protection for an annual subscription.


We created Jacksons Shield to give clients peace of mind. The service can be fine-tuned depending on size, circumstances and the level of support required, however, the key elements are:

  • the Helpline – swift, reliable advice from a member of our Employment Team by telephone, e-mail or virtual meeting and on demand, including outside normal working hours.
  • a Documents Audit – our review of your employment contracts, staff handbook, policies and procedures to ensure that you have and are comfortable with the correct documents for your business;
  • Insurance cover – we can help you put in place optional insurance to cover the cost of any potential employment litigation including settlements, awards and even enforcing restrictive covenants.

One of the main benefits of Jacksons Shield is the close relationship which is developed through the Employment Team fully understanding our clients’ businesses and our clients really getting to know us. For many clients, we are viewed as an extension to their HR team and a resource for senior managers requiring commercial insight and strategic support with decision making. For some, we operate as a virtual HR manager. In all cases we strive to be trusted, valued and responsive to our clients’ needs.

The subscription charge for Jacksons Shield, which is payable in equal monthly instalments, largely depends on the size of the workforce. There are, however, three service options to help clients choose the level of support most suitable for their business.

 

The options:

Steel

  • Monthly access to the Helpline is limited to 2 hours although this can be rolled forward or backwards so that there will only be a balancing charge, if applicable, at the end of the subscription period.
  • Full Documents Audit.
  • Template additional or replacement contracts and/or policies and procedures.
  • Template disciplinary and grievance letters, and other staff correspondence (with advice on completing these).
  • Quarterly training events.
  • Jacksons newsletters and Employment Team articles, update bulletins and information sheets.
  • Optional employment-specific legal expenses insurance cover.

Chrome

  • Unlimited access to the Helpline.
  • Full Documents Audit.
  • Bespoke additional or replacement contracts and/or policies and procedures.
  • Fully drafted disciplinary or grievance letters, and other staff correspondence.
  • Reduced hourly rate for Employment Tribunal representation (capped at £175 plus VAT, where no insurance cover).
  • Discounted rates on Jacksons’ personal legal services for your staff.
  • Quarterly training events.
  • Jacksons newsletters and Employment Team articles, update bulletins and information sheets.
  • Optional employment-specific legal expenses insurance cover.

Platinum

  • Unlimited access to the Helpline.
  • Full Documents Audit.
  • Bespoke additional or replacement contracts and/or policies and procedures.
  • Fully drafted disciplinary or grievance letters, and other staff correspondence.
  • Reduced hourly rate for Employment Tribunal representation (capped at £150 plus VAT, where no insurance cover).
  • Discounted rates on Jacksons’ business legal services and on personal legal services for your staff.
  • Quarterly training events.
  • Two full-day training sessions on employment-related topics of your choice.
  • Jacksons newsletters and Employment Team articles, update bulletins and information sheets.
  • Optional employment-specific legal expenses insurance cover.
