Update: “Britain’s biggest employment reforms in a generation to get Britain working again”

Posted on 26th November, 2024

Following an independent review looking at how to help businesses improve support and employment of people with disabilities or other health conditions, the Government is publishing a white paper today setting out “Britain’s biggest employment reforms in a generation to get Britain working again”.

The Government has made its intentions regarding employment law very clear, and much change is on the way.

The paper’s headline aims include:

All young people to have access to apprenticeships, good training and education opportunities.

In areas with the highest unemployment, mental health support systems will be expanded in the hope of reducing waiting lists.

DWP will be transformed, and job centres will become the National Jobs and Careers Service tasked with focusing on skills and careers, instead of administering benefit claims.

Watch this space. Our Head of Employment, Deborah Henning, will be digesting this white paper’s content and will be commenting about what employers need to know about the changes.
