What to expect:
The office is open 8.30 until 5.15. We encourage students to start at 9.15 and finish at 3.00, although hours can be flexible to accommodate students who rely on public transport of lifts.
Students will be based at our Stockton on Tees office.
Duration can range from 1 day up to 5 days, during the same week.
During the week students will be supervised by one of our solicitors and trainee solicitors. Students will experience different specialisms and work types of a busy law firm, which will include, drafting, research, client meetings, problem solving and possibly a trip to the Court. Students can request observation of a particular specialism prior to their placement but this will depend on staff availability.
The work we do is confidential between us and our clients, and this confidentiality extends to our Students. It is vitally important that everything you work on inside the Law Firm remains confidential.

Private Client Solicitor – Newcastle
We are currently looking for a Private Client lawyer in our Newcastle office. This role is is open to Private Client Solicitors with any range of PQE in this area of work who meet the specifications for this role.
- Working independently as the sole Private Client Solicitor based in our Newcastle office with support from our Stockton Office as required.
- Taking on an existing moderate caseload of varied matters and building up your own full caseload through marketing and business development.
- Handling a wide range of non-contentious Private Client matters primarily: drafting both simple and more complex Wills, administering both simple and taxable Estates, dealing with Lasting Powers of Attorney and deputyship applications, basic tax advice and estate planning. Working autonomously; running and being responsible for own caseload.
- Be able to work with minimal supervision; guidance, support and supervision will be on hand when required from colleagues in Stockton Office.
- Travelling and working from Stockton Office as required.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will hold a full driving licence with your own transport and must have enthusiasm and drive for business development and marketing activities.
Legal Executive – Tees Valley office
We are looking for a legal executive to assist the firm’s expanding regulatory practice.
Hours of work: Full time
Salary Negotiable depending on experience
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge and experience of criminal court procedure
- A background, or keen interest, in agriculture.
Based in our Tees Valley office, but with some travel throughout the North East to visit clients, the successful applicant will work closely with the partner leading our regulatory team and will be encouraged to develop the specialist knowledge needed to advise the firm’s many clients in this growing area of our practice.

Jacksons Law Firm recruits trainee solicitors each year offering positions to a mix of law, non-law and joint honours graduates and to people who have changed career completely. We are interested in receiving applications from candidates with excellent academic qualifications with practical and social skills.
When you join our firm, you will be offered a contract based in our Teesside office. You will be welcomed, as part of our firm, from day one and encouraged to take an active part in the opportunities provided in both our Teesside and Newcastle office.
Your training will involve four, six-month seats in four of the following practice areas:
Wills, Trust and Probate
We will try to offer you experience in your areas of particular interest, but this cannot always be guaranteed. All trainees are assigned a partner who will mentor you throughout your contract, provide advice, guidance and support when needed. You will also have access to our HR manager who can assist your career development with Jacksons.
