Working across all sectors including energy, utility, retail, industrial, education, investment, regeneration, development and leisure we offer advice in a range of areas including:

  • Acquisition and disposal of freehold and leasehold property
  • Acquisition, management and disposal of investment property portfolios
  • All aspects of agricultural land
  • Commercial development
  • Deeds of grant, easements and underground leases for pipes, cables, mines and minerals
  • Insolvency
  • Leases for landlords and tenants of all types of commercial property
  • Legal documents for leasehold management of commercial property
  • Property finance
  • Planning, environmental and construction aspects of property transactions
  • Site assembly for residential developments and plot sales

In the past 12 months, our team has acted in acquisitions of retail warehouses for a major chain; in port lettings for the offshore wind industry; for major house builders in the region in site acquisition and plot sales; for the developer of the only speculative industrial development in the north east; and in over 350 transactions for an electrical distribution company.

In addition, we have managed property investment portfolios for families and individuals with values up to £50 million and acted in numerous secured lending transactions with borrowing in excess of £1m. We have advised many of our clients for more than 20 years and supported their businesses through times of growth and difficulty alike.

Obtaining planning permission can be complex and time consuming.  At Jacksons our aim is to help you achieve your planning objectives and goals as efficiently as possible and achieve the best possible outcome for you and/or your business.

Our areas of expertise include lawful use and permitted development, stopping up orders and diversions, planning agreements, infrastructure agreements, public Rights of way and general negotiations with Local Authorities.

Our banking team represent a number of lenders including National Australia Group Europe Limited; Clydesdale Bank plc and Handelsbanken and has particular expertise in property security lending to all sectors including industrial, office, retail, leisure and health.

We provide advice and assistance on carrying out the legally required ‘right to rent’ checks and managing any issues arising from the checking process.

We offer a ‘Right to Rent’ fixed-fee deal, to make the checking process simple for landlords and those who sub-let property or take in lodgers. For a fixed-fee you would receive step-by-step advice on carrying out the checks together with an agreement to cover the arrangement between landlord and letting agent if you need one.

Partners, Jane Armitage and Geoff Skeoch are both named individuals in the commercial property section of The Legal 500 2015.

Once again, many thanks for the effort you put into getting this over the line. Great result.

Michael McConnell, PD Ports

Many thanks for the excellent way you have dealt with this at such short notice.

Michael McConnell, PD Ports

Now that the dust has settled, Maggie and I would like to thank you all for all of your efforts in pushing through the completion of the sale of Sycamore in such an expedient and efficient manner, I feel your input and the end result justified our coming back to you to handle the sale, as we had always intended.

Colin Stamp and Margaret Stamp

Their approach is refreshing and commercial and no matter how big or small the client they are happy to help and give the same level of service to all.

Jonathan Simpson, Connect Property North East Ltd

… we would have no hesitation to use Jacksons again should the need arise. It’s been a pleasure working with you. With very best wishes and many thanks again.

Rebekah Stack, Kebbell Developments

Erica is an outstanding young professional who has developed extensive specialist knowledge of legal transactions associated with the electricity distribution industry. I have always found Erica to be very enthusiastic and most helpful person who is prepared to go the extra mile to deliver an excellent service.

For a young solicitor, she is very confident and has the ability to provide sound professional advice in a clear and concise manner that makes the most complicated legal situations understandable. Erica is an absolute pleasure to work with and will be a worthy recipient of this award.

Peter Sproates, Northern Powergrid

Forward thinking and down to earth, very personable and approachable and always happy to discuss issue and problems relating to clients and property without ever feeling you are on the clock.
