Jacksons is delighted to announce the first appointment of the New Year. Solicitor, Emma Canham from Newcastle, joins the family team to assist clients in the region in all areas of family law.
Emma graduated from Northumbria University after completing a law degree, combined with the LPC course, and has seven years’ experience working in family law as well as criminal law. She is working closely with Solicitor, Louisa Bestford, who heads up the department and consultant Ann Owens. Outside of work her passion is running and she takes part in the Great North Run every year, raising funds for local charities.
Emma said, “I’m thrilled to be working at Jacksons and being part of a firm which has been around for over 140 years. The Jacksons brand is well established in the region and has a great reputation in family law which makes things easier when you join any new job. I’m looking forward to getting to know our clients and helping them during, what can be, a very distressing time for them”.

Whilst we are based in Newcastle, Jacksons also has a Teesside office which means our clients live all over the region and the team is often seen driving up and down the A19. Jacksons, which has an office in Stockton and Newcastle, celebrated its 140th anniversary last year having been established in 1876 in Middlesbrough. Due to client demand in the north of the region, Jacksons launched its residential conveyancing department at the end of 2015 and more recently, appointed a senior associate to head up its employment department. Jacksons was approved as an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in July 2016.
